Take a screenshot (PC & Mac)
Depending on your Operating System, the steps involved in taking a screen shot may vary.
Taking a screen shot of your current screen is easy and can be done with a push of a button. Below are steps on how you can take a screen shot and put it into a file so you can send it of.
- Open up the screen you would like to take a screen shot of.
- Towards the top right of your keyboard there should be a button called 'Print Screen'. Press this and a print screen of your current screen will be taken. Nothing will happen on your screen to let you know that a print screen has just been taken.
- Open up a program that can hold images (Paint / Microsoft Word) and paste the image in. If you can't see the paste function you can alternatively use the hot key (ctrl + v).
- Save the file that contains the image.
- The file now contains a print screen, that can be accessed when ever you would like.
Please note: If you are required to take a screen shot and send it through an email, you are half way there. Once the image has been placed in a file and saved; that file can then be attached to an email. Once attached the email can be sent with the image.
- Ensure the screen displays exactly what you want to show in your screen shot
- Press Command-Shift-3
- Depending on your operating system, it will either be saved as "Picture #" (with # representing a number—for example, if it's the 5th screen shot on your desktop it will be labeled "Picture 5") or as "screen shot" labeled with the date and time.
Please note: If you wish to save the screen shot to your clipboard instead of your desktop, press Command-Control-Shift-3.
