Using the Medicare Online Patient Verification (OPV) and Online Veteran Verification (OVV) tools

The OPV tool allows you to verify whether a client is eligible for Medicare benefits without you having to contact Medicare.

Running an OPV or OVV

1. Go to a client's file you wish to conduct the OPV Β or OVV check on.
​2. In the Overview section, click on the Medicare OPV or Medicare OVV button depending on which verification you would like to make. This article continues with the OPV check.

3. The client's details should auto-populate in the relevant fields, you just need to click Verify

Common responses for the OPV check

8015: Patient Verification has been accepted however patient details were not an exact match. Please check patient Medicare Card Number before claiming.

8018: Patient Verification has been accepted however patient details were not an exact match. Please check patient Date of Birth before claiming.

8016: Patient Verification has been accepted however patient details were not an exact match. Please check patient Individual Reference Number (IRN) before claiming.
